CEO Laura Thrall’s Message to Nurses During Nurses Week 2015

Nurses WeekEach day, you give everything you have to support children and families on their journeys with cancer. I hear countless moving stories from parents about how their nurses brought comfort, care and a sense of normalcy to the difficult experience of having a child diagnosed with cancer.

While Nurses Week is not nearly long enough to give you the recognition you deserve, I want to thank you for everything you do throughout the year.

Please know that you can continue to count on us to be a resource for you and the families you serve. In fact, today we will launch a new grant program, the CureSearch Community Impact Awards (CCIA), to fund small initiatives between $2,000 – $20,000 focused on psycho-social programs and caregiver resources. And as a nurse in the CureSearch family, we hope you will take advantage of this community-based awards opportunity and we encourage you to apply.

We also have a variety of educational resources, including webinars and videos, and based on feedback from our supporters, will soon be launching our CancerCare mobile app that allows the caretakers of children with cancer to connect more easily with their medical partners while managing treatments, appointments and more.

Again, my sincere gratitude. You are helping to bring treatments and cures to thousands of children diagnosed with cancer each year. Thank you for everything you do!

Until there’s a cure,

Laura Thrall
Chief Executive Officer
CureSearch for Children’s Cancer
