Last April, Madison Pruitt was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma – a rare muscle cancer. After undergoing radiation and chemotherapy the cancer went into remission, but returned around the holidays. The news didn’t stop Madison from wishing she could be a Chicago Police Officer, and with the help of the Chicago Police Department, Madison’s wish was granted. Eighty officers came to her home and honored Madison with a police cap and told her “You’re our hero.”
Sadly, this superhero lost her battle with cancer last Sunday, April 10th. The police officers are planning to memorialize Madison at her funeral with an escort.
