Cookies

CURESEARCH or its vendors may use cookies, web beacons, tags, log-in files or other similar data collection or tracking techniques to facilitate use of our Platforms by our users, and to enrich your online experience with us. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about that user. CURESEARCH uses both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user’s hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions.

Many consider the use of cookies and such identifiers to be an industry standard measure. Consequently, your web browser is likely set to accept cookies or allow other identifiers. If you would prefer not to receive cookies or allow identifiers, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies or surf anonymously. If you reject cookies, you may still use our websites and all the informational resources provided through them.

CURESEARCH uses a tracking utility provided by a third-party vendor to track usage of specific web pages and other resources provided through our website. The vendor sets cookies as a method for compiling site usage information, but these cookies are only used to compile demographic models of site usage and are not tied to the user’s personal information.

Digital Advertising

We may partner with ad networks and other ad serving providers (“Advertising Providers”) that serve ads on behalf of us and others on non-affiliated platforms. Some of those ads may be personalized, meaning that they are intended to be relevant to you based on information Advertising Providers collect about your use of the Platforms and other sites or apps over time, including information about relationships among different browsers and devices. This type of advertising is known as interest-based advertising.

We may also work with third parties that collect data about your use of the Platforms and other sites or apps over time for non- advertising purposes. We use Google Analytics and other third-party services to improve the performance of the Platforms and for analytics and marketing purposes. For more information about how Google Analytics collects and uses data when you use our Platforms, visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners, and to opt out of Google Analytics, visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Third-Party Links and Tools

We may provide links on the Platforms to third-party websites or apps, including plug-ins that link to social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram. These websites and apps are independent from CURESEARCH and have their own separate privacy policies. CURESEARCH is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such third-party websites or apps. We recommend that you review the third-parties’ privacy polices before you visit these websites or apps to learn about their data practices.

The Platforms may also include integrated social media tools or “plug-ins,” such as social networking tools offered by third parties. If you use these tools to share personal information or you otherwise interact with these features on the Platforms, those companies may collect information about you and may use and share such information in accordance with your account settings, including by sharing such information with the general public. Your interactions with third-party companies and your use of their features are governed by the privacy notices of the companies that provide those features. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy notices of any accounts you create and use.

Data Security

CURESEARCH has implemented reasonable technical, physical, and administrative data security safeguards to protect the Personal Information under its control.

Data Retention

CURESEARCH retains Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

From time to time, CURESEARCH may also share donor names and mailing addresses with other reputable nonprofit organizations on a limited basis in exchange for limited access to the names and addresses of their constituents. We have found this to be a cost-effective method of reaching additional potential constituents. These organizations will not have continued access to your name and address unless you choose to respond to their initial mailing. We do not share email addresses or health-related data in connection with this list exchange.

Opt-Out/Removal/Deletion

CureSearch will delete all collected user data or discontinue contact with any person upon oral or written request. We respect our donors’ choices and control over their information. You, as a donor may, at any time, have your name excluded from any donor list exchange activity. We also recognize that you may wish to limit the ways in which we contact you, and we offer the following options for restricting internal and external sharing of your contact information:

CureSearch maintains physical, technical and administrative security procedures to protect the confidentiality of all personal information, including any SSNs we maintain.
