Miami, FL – Parents, Wanky and Frank Palacios had no connection or deep knowledge of childhood cancer until that unforgettable day of January 7, 2016. That’s when their 7-year-old son Eric was diagnosed with Pre-b cell leukemia, also known as acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). “Our world was literally spun out of control.”
Pictured: Eric PalaciosEric began treatment at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital that same day and is still currently undergoing monthly chemo treatments. His treatment plan will be for a total of 3 1/2 years. Through it all, Eric fights with fierceness and courage.
“Our little warrior is just that… A SUPERHERO! It’s funny because his favorite song lyrics are, ‘Oh to everyone that’s hit their limit, it’s not over yet, it’s not over yet.’ I made sure he remembered those verses every time he underwent a procedure. He showed strength like I’ve never experienced before.”
The Palacios family supports the Superheroes Unite! Miami event, which is sponsored by CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. The event’s activities help children battling cancer feel like superheroes and pay tribute to those who lost their fight. Funds raised at the event support children’s cancer research and programs.
Eric Palacios continues to fight his battle against cancer, as he is currently in treatment. He and his family will be at the Superheroes Unite! event on April 23, 2pm, at Museum Park. Miami, Florida – Parents Wanky y Frank Palacios no tenían relación ni conocimiento profundo sobre el cáncer infantil hasta ese día inolvidable el 7 de enero de 2016. Fue entonces cuando su hijo Eric de 7 años de edad fue diagnosticado con leucemia de células pre-B, también conocida como leucemia linfoblástica aguda (LLA). “Nuestro mundo se salió de control literalmente”.
En la foto: Eric PalaciosEric comenzó el tratamiento en el Hospital de Niños Nicklaus ese mismo día y todavía recibe tratamientos mensuales de quimioterapia. Su plan de tratamiento será por un total de 3 años y medio. A pesar de todo, Eric combate con ímpetu y coraje.
“Nuestro pequeño guerrero es sólo eso… ¡UN SUPERHÉROE! Es curioso, porque la letra de su canción favorita es, ‘Oh a todos los que han llegado a su límite, no ha terminado todavía, no ha terminado todavía’. Me aseguré de que recordara esos versos cada vez que se sometió a un procedimiento. Mostró una fuerza que nunca he experimentado antes”.
La familia Palacios respalda el evento de Miami de Superheroes Unite!, que está patrocinado por CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. Las actividades del evento ayudan a los niños que luchan contra el cáncer a sentirse como superhéroes y rinde homenaje a aquellos que perdieron su lucha. Los fondos recaudados en el evento respaldan la investigación y los programas de cáncer infantil.
