Love Your Melon Gold HatBethesda, Md – Love Your Melon, a Minnesota-based company dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer, has produced 2,500 co-branded gold CureSearch beanies to be sold on eBay for Charity as a part of CureSearch’s #MakeItGoldForKids campaign.

#MakeItGoldForKids is an activism campaign in celebration of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month that encourages people to turn things in their community gold and share them via social media with the #MakeItGoldForKids. Its goal is to raise awareness and funds for children’s cancer research.

For every $30 hat sold on eBay for Charity, $15 will fund CureSearch’s mission to drive targeted and innovative research with measurable results in an accelerated timeframe. The hats, which are gold because that is the awareness color for children’s cancer, will also help raise awareness for the CureSearch #MakeItGoldForKids movement.

This exclusive, limited edition sale begins September 1 and continues until the hats are sold out.

Every year, 43 parents will hear the words, “Your child has cancer.” The funding provided by the sales of these hats will go toward cancer research initiatives and provide support for children and their families facing a cancer diagnosis.

Laura Thrall, CEO of CureSearch, is thrilled about the partnership. “Aggressively driving targeted and innovative pediatric cancer research with measurable results is our mission. In sharing our entrepreneurial spirit, we are pleased Love Your Melon has chosen us as a partner as they expand their efforts to support the best cancer research. The collaboration between CureSearch and Love Your Melon will allow us to raise awareness of the number one cause of death by disease in children, drive research that become cures, and improve the quality of life of these young cancer fighters.”

Founded in 2012 by two college friends, Love Your Melon now has 700 college crews nationwide and over 11,000 individual ambassadors. To date, the company has donated over $514,000 to CureSearch, and crews have raised an additional $4,000 though their own fundraising efforts.

“Love Your Melon and their national network of college ambassadors have breathed a new life into the fight against children’s cancer. It has been wonderful to see a young generation of activists learning about the current barriers facing those diagnosed with children’s cancers and taking action to create change. Their passion and energy paired with the innovative and ground breaking research CureSearch is currently funding is creating hope for families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis,” said CureSearch Strategic Partnership Manager, Mallory Zarate.
