CureSearch for Children’s Cancer announces the release of a free, comprehensive mobile app making it easier to manage a child’s cancer diagnosis.

Bethesda, Md – September 17, 2015 – CureSearch for Children’s Cancer announced today the launch of CancerCare – a confidential and comprehensive app that makes providing care to children with cancer easier.

Developed with funding by Ronald McDonald House Charities, the CureSearch CancerCare app organizes treatment dates and medications; tracks mood, side effects and blood counts; as well as creates reports to share with doctors, nurses and those close to the patient.

“We understand that there’s a lot to manage when there is a cancer diagnosis – from appointments and treatments to allergies and side effects,” said Christine Bork, chief development and communications officer for CureSearch. “That is why CureSearch developed the CancerCare mobile app to make providing excellent care for children with cancer easier.”

The CureSearch CancerCare mobile app provides support for the parents and caregivers of the more than 15,000 children diagnosed with cancer every year, and the more than 40,000 children undergoing cancer treatment this year alone.

“When a there’s a cancer diagnosis, the family faces substantial stress and shock,” said Laura Thrall, CEO of CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. “We know that the acute phase of treatment – when children are in the hospital and often undergo intensive surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy – is especially distressing for parents and caregivers. Many parents struggle with how to cope with the complex and unfamiliar details of cancer treatment including doses, medications, blood counts, and scheduling. The CureSearch CancerCare designed to be your personal caregiving assistant.”

The app officially launched September 17, 2015 and has already received high marks from early release, real-life users.

Denise M. awards the app five stars and states “[The app] is an easy place to keep track of what is going on. It is very easy to get caught up in medical jargon and this allows you to write things down and then go back and read them when you have a quiet moment.”

Sarah G. praises the app with five stars calling out “The ability for a parent to keep track of their child’s health, blood counts, and everything with an app is awesome.”

“This app is your treatment database for where ever you are,” notes Travis S, giving it four stars. “Being able to input or recall info anywhere makes life easier.”

Eric M. bestows a five star rating and shares “This is the perfect way to track and trace all your meds, appointments and notes.”

The CureSearch CancerCare app is available for free on Google Play and the Apple App Store with no in-app purchases and no ads.
