ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a full-time exempt position and will be conducted remotely from the successful candidate’s home office. This position is a supporting role in the Marketing and Communications department. This position reports to the Director, Marketing and Communications.

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day development of engaging and informative content to support our fundraising and development program initiatives across all communications platforms, especially the website, blog, social media, donor communications, and email.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Writing descriptive and compelling copy for an array of audiences, including patients and caregivers, scientific stakeholders, and donors.
  • Proactively collaborating with other departments to mine new content, including “wins” and storytelling opportunities.
  • Assisting in social media, email, and website content development.
  • Working in tandem with the Manager of Marketing and Communications to create graphics in Canva and write captions.
  • Maintaining Meta business manager and post scheduler.
  • Building media lists, assisting in media pitches and performing media monitoring to alert the team about new coverage.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of brand identity and messaging consistency across all channels, reviewing social media, web pages, and emails for accuracy.
  • Maintaining the editorial calendar and keeping Trello boards up-to-date. Organizing content libraries in Box.
  • Fielding incoming website update requests submitted by internal teams.
  • Supporting internal communication, keeping a pulse on industry news organizational updates and sharing those updates via internal Slack channels and email.
  • Proactively staying up-to-date on marketing and communications industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually improve communications strategies and tactics.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a marketing or communications discipline, and/or 1 to 3 years of experience in a related position.
  • Strong copywriting skills.
  • Experience scheduling social media posts in native platforms including Meta Business Suite.
  • An understanding of the unique differences among major social networks (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube) and how content is created for each.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teams to develop a strong understanding of development goals.
  • Organized with a relentless attention to detail. Experience with a project management tool like Mondays or Trello.
  • Creative with an eye for compelling design and layout. Experience creating digital graphics and print collateral, including fliers, in Canva.
  • Comfortability with and a willingness to learn new tools and platforms.
  • Experience developing emails and editing web content is a plus.
  • Non-profit experience is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.

The annualized salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000.
