Hallmarks of Generosity: Keepsake Collectors Raise $20,000 for CureSearch

When it comes to special occasions, holidays, and matters of the heart, Hallmark Cards, Inc., has been helping the world celebrate-and decorate-for over a century. Hallmark created new traditions in handcrafted holiday decor with the introduction of its Keepsake Ornaments in the 1970s, garnering a dedicated following of ornament collectors. Through the generosity of its Keepsake Ornament Club (KOC), America’s largest greeting card manufacturer has taken on another heartwarming endeavor: raising funds for pediatric cancer research.

During its biennial convention in Kansas City, Mo., earlier this month, the Hallmark KOC raised over $20,000 for CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. Many of the 2,000 collectors at this year’s event placed bids on more than 20 hand-painted artist originals and sample 2018 Keepsake Ornaments in a silent auction. Who knew a Star Wars figurine, snowman statue, or a collection of Charlie Brown Christmas ornaments could have such an impact for children battling cancer?

“The Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club is proud to support CureSearch in their cancer research efforts,” says KOC Experience Marketing Manager Jamie Heath. “Our KOC members are gratified to be able to help CureSearch get closer to finding a cure, and I’m thankful for their generosity.”

Hallmark’s relationship with CureSearch began in 2011, when a Hallmark employee who had attended CureSearch’s Kansas City fundraising walk shared the organization’s mission and message with her colleagues. Hallmark saw an opportunity to give back to a good cause, and the KOC silent auction has since raised more than $134,000 to help end childhood cancer.

Hallmark, CureSearch, and thousands of KOC members are already looking forward to the 2019 convention. But there’s no need to wait to support this cause: Visit curesearch.org/hallmark to make a donation today.
