Geoffrey Kannan, MD, PhD

Geoffrey Kannan, MD, PhD, is the Executive Medical Director, Head of Americas Oncology Team at Fortrea. Dr. Kannan serves as a medical monitor in a wide variety of industry sponsored trials, and is a subject matter expert in pediatric oncology. He is also responsible for the training and professional development of other oncology physicians at Labcorp. Dr. Kannan is a pediatric neuro-oncologist by training, and prior to joining Labcorp, was on staff at Pediatric Associates of Virginia in Falls Church, Virginia, affiliated with both Inova Children’s Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia, and Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Kannan received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, then completed a PhD in Cancer Biology with a focus on Ewing’s sarcoma at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences/University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He then received his MD from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. Dr. Kannan stayed in Miami for a pediatrics residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Boston Children’s Hospital, and served as an Instructor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School prior to moving to the Washington, DC, area, where he now resides.
