Will Busby, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)

4 Years Old at Diagnosis

Will BusbyOn Tuesday January 25th, 2011, Will’s family got a new member, cancer.

It happened after weeks of 4-year-old Will, aka “Super Dude,” not acting like himself, when his family took him to the pediatrician. Their doctor ordered several rounds of tests for Will and discovered that he had Pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The family spent twelve days in the hospital beginning treatment. Their three-year journey with cancer had begun.

Will BusbyDuring the first year of treatment, Will’s amazing attitude shone through. He handled the hospital stays, treatment, and side effects with courage that his parents never imagined.

Will is now in the maintenance phase of treatment, and the family has been working on adjusting to this new normal. Will is back in school and thriving. They hope that others can learn from Will’s cancer and that new and improved treatments can be made available for other children battling cancer.
