We’re a small but mighty team, working remotely yet closely connected, and we’re looking for a proactive, strategic Operations Manager, Community Engagement to help us optimize and scale our community fundraising efforts.
This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Community Engagement and plays a critical role in the success of our Ultimate Hike, CureSearch Walk, and CureSearch Gold programs. This is a remote position with occasional travel for event support and team meetings.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Program Oversight & Strategy
- Develop and implement national-level program plans supporting the success of CureSearch’s Community Engagement initiatives, including Ultimate Hike, CureSearch Walk, and CureSearch Gold programs.
- Set and track benchmarks for event execution, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with program goals.
- Identify and drive program innovation, process improvements, and operational efficiencies to increase impact.
- Build and implement training programs and resources that equip Community Engagement Managers and leadership volunteers to run successful events without requiring on-site staff presence.
Event Logistics & Execution
- Serve as the strategic lead for event logistics, proactively guiding planning, vendor coordination, and risk management.
- Own the development of event toolkits, guides, playbooks, and resources to ensure leadership volunteers and Community Engagement Managers can execute events independently.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that all events meet CureSearch’s standards and provide an exceptional experience for participants.
- Continuously refine and improve event processes to optimize efficiency and scalability.
Operational & Financial Oversight
- Monitor and manage department expenses, ensuring budget adherence and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics for events and campaigns, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize impact.
- Proactively solicit in-kind donations to offset operational costs of events and secure partnerships that enhance financial sustainability.
- Negotiate with vendors to reduce costs and maximize value, ensuring optimal use of resources.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
- Support and collaborate with Community Engagement Managers in event planning, execution, and post-event analysis, ensuring they have the tools, training, and processes needed for success.
- Partner with marketing, finance, and legal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and brand standards.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams and external vendors to streamline processes, enhance collaboration, and drive operational excellence.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 5+ years of experience in event operations, community engagement, nonprofit fundraising, or a related field.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to proactively set goals, track progress, and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience managing budgets, securing in-kind donations, and negotiating vendor agreements to optimize event resources.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to empower staff, volunteers, and partners.
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance tracking to inform program enhancements.
- Familiarity with peer-to-peer fundraising platforms, CRM systems, and event management tools preferred.
- Passion for CureSearch’s mission and a commitment to advancing childhood cancer research.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel up to 15-20% of the time.
