You and your family have recently heard some of the worst news you thought you could ever hear; your child has cancer. We are so sorry that you are going through this.
But we hope that you have also heard that there are good treatments now for your child’s cancer. The treatments have come a long way and are not as toxic, unpleasant, or hard on your child as chemotherapy used to be.
We want you to know that there is help at many levels and from many sources as your child goes through treatment and your family supports your child. The help that is available is not only for the physical treatment of cancer, but also for the emotional aspects that all family members face.
One resource available for children to deal with these emotional aspects is the book Digging Deep, A Journal for Young People Facing Health Challenges. Digging Deep offers a fun and engaging way for kids and teens with serious illnesses to build emotional strength and resilience through journaling. You can learn more and order the book at diggingdeep.org.
