Bethesda, Md. – August 16, 2021 – CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanne Finnegan and Ma Cherry Trivedi to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.
CureSearch is a national non-profit with a mission to end childhood cancer. For pediatric cancer, research funding hasn’t historically translated into new treatments. CureSearch takes a unique approach and bridges the funding gap between basic research and late phase clinical trials to deliver new and better treatment options to more than 17,000 children diagnosed with cancer each year.
Finnegan and Trivedi will join a team focused on accelerating the pace of drug development for children, adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer.
Finnegan is the chief credit officer at Build America Mutual (BAM), a national financial guaranty insurance company. Prior to joining BAM, Finnegan was executive vice president at Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., and the chief municipal underwriting officer at Financial Security Assurance (FSA). She previously served as the chairperson of the Association for Governmental Leasing and Finance Board of Directors. She brings more than 30 years of finance experience to the Board.
Trivedi is the founder and managing director of Ayuroma Advisory International, an investments and mergers, and acquisitions advisory company. She is also the founder and general partner of Nawarat investments (Singapore), focused on fintech, agritech, insurtech, and foodtech startups. She also serves as chairwoman of Women Corporate Directors Chapter in Myanmar, and as a governor on the Board of The American Chamber of Commerce, Myanmar. Trivedi brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate mergers and acquisitions to the Board.
“We are honored to have Suzanne and Cherry join the CureSearch leadership team,” said Jared Brancazio, Chair of the CureSearch Board of Directors and Vice President of Investments at Brancazio Wealth Management of Raymond James. “Their unique skills and professional experience will be an incredible asset as we work to ensure our donor dollars are stewarded towards the greatest impact on the children and families that we serve.
The Board of Directors provides outstanding executive leadership, experience and expertise from the areas of business, finance, medical research, and more. Many directors have experienced childhood cancer in their own families or with close friends, and they understand the challenges facing patients and families today.
“As CureSearch continues to grow to support new drug development for children with cancer, the strength of our Board is a critical piece of our mission,” said Kay Koehler, President and CEO of CureSearch. “I’m thrilled to welcome these two highly experienced and qualified members to help drive new therapeutic options for the children who count on us.”
