About CureSearch

  • CureSearch is a national nonprofit on a mission to end childhood cancer by driving targeted and innovative research with measurable results in an accelerated time frame. We’re dedicated to ensuring that every child diagnosed with cancer has a safe and effective treatment option.
  • 60% of preclinical research projects funded through our Acceleration Initiative advance to clinical trials, compared to a less than 8% average rate of translation for drugs into clinical cancer trial.
  • CureSearch-funded pre-clinical projects are 7x more likely to advance to clinical trials and get there 1.5x faster compared to the national average.

ACCELERATING THE PACE OF PEDIATRIC DRUG DEVELOPMENT

CureSearch-funded Investigators

Our funded investigators have a shared mission to bring safer, more effective treatments to children with cancer. They are experts in pediatric oncology, conducting next-generation research for children with cancer.

Young Investigators

Young Investigator Awards combat the loss of promising scientists from the field by providing financial support to investigators early in their research careers and providing them with career development and mentoring opportunities.

Acceleration Initiative

Acceleration Initiative projects are highly innovative, address a significant challenge in pediatric cancer drug development, and have a strong probability of clinical application, ready to reach patients within three to five years.

Catapult Awards

CureSearch Catapult Awards propel high-potential research out of the lab into the clinic and provide funding for Phase 1 or Phase 2 clinical trials that advance promising therapies for pediatric cancer.

Scientific & Industry Advisory Councils

Collaboration is key to accelerate the pace of pediatric drug development. Our Scientific and Industry Advisory Councils include leaders from academia, pharmaceutical companies, regulatory agencies and more – all of whom are subject matter experts, thought leaders, and advocates for advancements in pediatric cancer research.

Scientific Advisory Council (SAC)

The SAC is composed of experts from world pediatric cancer research institutions and also includes representation from the U.S.  Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Industry Advisory Council (IAC)

IAC members include leaders from pharmaceutical companies, biotechs, and clinical research organizations..

RESOURCES & ASSETS

Childhood Cancer Statistics

More than 15,000 children, adolescents and young adults (age 0-19) are diagnosed with cancer each year. While survival rates for the most common types of childhood cancer have greatly increased in recent years, there has been little improvement in the prognosis for many less common tumor types. For many high-risk subtypes, long-term survival rates are often less than 50%. Others, like the brain tumor DIPG, remain incurable. Here are the latest childhood cancer statistics including diagnoses, survival rates and deaths per year.

Video Library

CureSearch has developed educational videos to help patients, families, and caregivers navigate a childhood cancer diagnosis. In addition, a number of patients and family members have shared their childhood cancer stories with us.
