Better Together. Further Faster

Advancing promising research for children with cancer takes more than any one organization working alone. CureSearch is helping lead a more strategic, collaborative approach to research funding, bringing together nonprofit partners, aligning resources, and identifying high-potential science with the greatest opportunity for impact. By combining expertise and investment, we can reduce duplication, stretch research dollars further, and accelerate the development of safer, more effective treatments for children with cancer.

Research Funding Partners

  • Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation

Founded by Jeff Gordon in 1999, Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation (JGCF) funds pediatric cancer research across the country to help advance cures and better treatment options for children. JGCF partners with CureSearch on Dr. John Prensner’s work to identify new treatment targets for ATRT, an aggressive childhood brain tumor, and Dr. Robbie Majzner’s clinical trial of CAR T-cell therapy for children and young adults with neuroblastoma.

  • Scott Carter Foundation

Founded by Mike and Paula Carter in memory of their son Scott, the Scott Carter Foundation carries forward his dream of finding cures for childhood cancer. Through its partnership with CureSearch, the foundation supports promising research and has helped develop educational resources for children with cancer and their families.

  • The Eddie Sutton Foundation

Founded in memory of Hall of Fame basketball coach Eddie Sutton, the Eddie Sutton Foundation honors the former Oklahoma State University head coach’s legacy by supporting cancer research and families affected by the disease. Through its partnership with CureSearch, the foundation helps advance research toward better treatments and cures for children with cancer.

  • The Catherine Elizabeth Blair Memorial Foundation

Founded in 2011 by Ellen and Tom Blair in memory of their daughter Catherine, the Catherine Elizabeth Blair Memorial Foundation is dedicated to improving outcomes for children with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. Through its partnership with CureSearch, the foundation supports promising research to advance better treatments and move closer to a cure.

  • LifeArc

LifeArc is a UK-based research charity that targets under-served areas of healthcare, including childhood cancer, where translational science expertise can make the biggest difference. Through its partnership with CureSearch, LifeArc supports promising research to develop safer, more effective therapies for children with aggressive brain tumors.

  • Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research

Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research funds research to develop better treatments with fewer long-term side effects for children with cancer. Through its support of CureSearch-funded projects, Rally has helped advance promising science toward new treatment options and better outcomes for children and their families.

  • Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy

Founded in 2016 by Sean Parker, the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy brings together leading researchers to develop treatments that help the immune system recognize and fight cancer. Through its partnership with CureSearch, the institute has supported promising immunotherapy research aimed at improving treatment options for children with aggressive brain tumors.

  • SebastianStrong Foundation

Founded in 2017 by Oscar and Rose Ortiz to honor their son Sebastian, SebastianStrong Foundation funds research to develop more targeted, less toxic treatments for children with cancer. Through its support of CureSearch-funded projects, the foundation has helped advance promising science toward new treatment options and better outcomes for children and their families.

  • Wacky Warriors

Founded by Nick Raitt, who lost his battle with rhabdomyosarcoma at age 22, Wacky Warriors carries forward his commitment to helping children and young adults affected by cancer. The organization supports childhood cancer research through its partnership with CureSearch and helps fund outdoor adventure programs for young adult cancer survivors.

Fight Osteosarcoma Together Super Grant partners

Four organizations have joined CureSearch to fund the “Fight Osteosarcoma Together Super Grant,” which addresses a critical, unmet need in pediatric osteosarcoma treatment: St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund of Children’s Cancer Research Fund, Battle Osteosarcoma, and the Osteosarcoma Collaborative.

$1.5 million to accelerate a new approach for osteosarcoma

Through the Fight Osteosarcoma Together Super Grant, CureSearch joined forces with St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Battle Osteosarcoma, Michael and April Egge, The Osteosarcoma Collaborative, and the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund of Children’s Cancer Research Fund to support an ambitious research project led by Patrick Grohar, MD, PhD.

Dr. Grohar’s team is investigating MYC, a gene that plays an important role in many osteosarcoma tumors, to better understand how it drives this aggressive childhood bone cancer and identify new ways to target it.

The three-year, $1.5 million collaborative award brings together multiple childhood cancer organizations and families around a shared goal: advancing a promising treatment strategy for a cancer where therapeutic options have changed little in decades.

By pooling resources and expertise, the partners were able to make a larger investment in a high-potential project than any organization might have made alone, helping move innovative science closer to new treatment options for children and young adults with osteosarcoma.
