Legacy & Named Funds
You Decide How Your Child’s Legacy Fights Cancer
A legacy fund offers a personalized way to honor your child’s journey, backed by our team’s support every step of the way. And it isn’t just about raising money, it’s about having a say in exactly how it’s invested. You choose which research projects your fund supports, giving your family a lasting voice in the fight against childhood cancer, without the complexity of starting your own nonprofit.

Jakefest
20 Years of Turning Love into Progress
$9,000,000+ Raised over 20 years to support childhood cancer research
Harry and Robin Koenigs created Jakefest in memory of their son, Jacob. With Kiewit’s support, an employee golf outing became Jakefest in 2007.
Today, this community’s enduring commitment honors Jacob’s life and helps advance promising research toward safer, more effective treatments for children with cancer.
Team Steve
How One Family Makes a Difference
$600,000+ Raised to support childhood cancer research
Steve’s story: Steve was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2004 and lost his fight in 2005 at age 9. The Crowe family created Team Steve: The Steven Crowe Legacy Fund at CureSearch so that one day, no child or family will have to endure what they went through.
Team Steve fundraises through multiple events each year, including a virtual choose-your-own-activity challenge every September, as well as marathon and bike-a-thon teams.

Why Start a Legacy Fund
Simpler Than Starting Your Own Foundation
Skip nonprofit paperwork, IRS regulations, and the administrative burden. We handle tax receipting, accounting, and compliance so your family can focus on fundraising and making an impact.
Your Child’s Story, Your Way
Your fund gets a dedicated, personalized webpage where you share your child’s journey, highlight which research projects the funds you raise are supporting, and accept donations from your community.
Expert Fundraising Support
You’re not alone. We provide event logistics support, customized fundraising toolkits, on-site assistance, custom donation forms, and secure payment processing that make it simple for supporters to give.
Access to Leading Research and the People Behind It
Connect with the nation’s top childhood cancer researchers and care providers, and direct your funds to the most promising, innovative research available. “I serve as Director of Development at CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, where I’ve championed the organization’s mission for over five years. In this role, I connect passionate supporters and families who understand the devastating impact of childhood cancer with groundbreaking research that offers hope.
I lead our Legacy Fund program, and it means so much to me. Every family who walks this path carries a story that deserves to be heard and honored. I’d love the chance to meet you, hear about your child, and learn what made their journey theirs. Together, we can build a legacy that truly reflects who they are.”
