SMS Privacy Statement

Effective Date: October 5, 2026

CureSearch for Children’s Cancer (“CureSearch,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy when you receive text messages from us. This SMS Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, and share your mobile information when you opt in to receive text messages from CureSearch (the “SMS Program”). It supplements our Donor Privacy Policy, which also applies to the Personal Information you provide to us.

Consent to Receive Text Messages

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in, you agree to receive recurring text messages from CureSearch, which may be sent using automated technology. You may opt in by submitting your number on a CureSearch web form or donation page, registering for an event, texting a keyword to a CureSearch number, or giving us your consent in another way that we disclose at the time. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of making a donation, registering for an event, or receiving any other product or service from CureSearch.

Types of Messages You May Receive

Depending on how you opt in, the messages we send may include:

  • Donation Messages: Confirmations, receipts, and thank-you messages related to your gifts.
  • Event Messages: Registration confirmations, reminders, and updates about events such as Ultimate Hike and CureSearch Walk.
  • Mission Updates: News about CureSearch research, programs, and the impact of your support.
  • Fundraising Appeals: Requests to give, participate, or volunteer, and occasional surveys.

Message frequency varies based on your activity and the program you join.

The Information We Collect

When you join the SMS Program, we may collect your mobile phone number, your name and other contact information you provide, your mobile carrier, the date, time, and method of your opt-in or opt-out, and the content of any messages you send to us. We may also collect technical information related to message delivery. CureSearch will never ask you to send health information, payment card numbers, or Social Security numbers by text message, and we ask that you do not send them.

How We Use Your Information

We use your mobile information to send the messages you have agreed to receive, to respond to your replies and requests, to keep records of your consent and opt-out choices, to prevent fraud and maintain the security of our messaging, to comply with applicable law and carrier requirements, and to understand how to improve our communications.

How We Share Your Information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell your mobile phone number.

We may share your information only as needed to operate the SMS Program, which includes sharing it with messaging platform providers, mobile carriers, and other service providers that process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations. We may also share information as required by law, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect our rights or the rights of others. Information that has been de-identified or aggregated may be shared without limitation.

Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. CureSearch and mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to Opt Out and Get Help

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message. You will receive a final message confirming your request, and we will not send you further text messages unless you opt in again. You may also ask us to remove your number by contacting us using the details below. Opting out of text messages does not change your preferences for other communications, which you may update as described in our Donor Privacy Policy.

For help, reply HELP to any text message or contact us using the details below.

Data Security and Retention

CureSearch maintains technical, physical, and administrative safeguards to protect your mobile information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. We keep mobile information only as long as needed to run the SMS Program and to keep records of consent as required or permitted by law, and then we securely dispose of it.

Children

The SMS Program is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect mobile information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with a mobile number, please contact us and we will delete it.

Notification of Changes

CureSearch reserves the right to amend this SMS Privacy Statement at any time to reflect changes in legal or regulatory requirements, carrier rules, or our practices. We will post the updated version on our website and update the effective date above. Your continued participation in the SMS Program after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.

Governing Law

This SMS Privacy Statement is governed by the laws of the state of Maryland, without regard to its conflict of law principles. If any provision is deemed unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable from the remaining provisions and shall not affect their validity and enforceability.
