Bethesda, MD – February 19, 2020 – Ten years ago, a small team of hikers began training for the first Ultimate Hike, preparing to trek 28.3 miles in one day while raising funds to support CureSearch for Children’s Cancer and cutting-edge pediatric cancer research. Today, the CureSearch Ultimate Hike program boasts thousands of alumni who have collectively raised over $6.5M for CureSearch and trekked hundreds of miles on some of the country’s most iconic trails.

In this 10th anniversary year, CureSearch is hosting eight Ultimate Hikes on iconic trails across the country, including the Pacific Crest Trail, Foothills Trail, Ozarks, Canaan Valley and the Superior Hiking Trail. The program is open to hikers of all experience levels, including beginners, and offers both in-person training programs and a virtual coaching option. In additionto expert coaching, the Ultimate Hike program provides a fully supported event weekend and personalized tools and support to help hikers reach their fundraising goals.

“Ultimate Hike has also provided an outlet for those affected by childhood cancer to fight back against a disease that has taken so much”, said Brecka Putnam, CureSearch National Manager of Endurance Campaigns. “Often times, friends and family want to help, but are not sure what to do. Ultimate Hike provides a way for them to make a real difference for children facing cancer.”
